Geneva, IL – Dr. Maria Morrison and Rich Bicbic of Geneva Hearing Services, a local hearing care practice, joined a gathering of some of the brightest minds in the hearing care industry over an extended February 20 to 22 weekend conference. Owner Summit, which was held by private-practice management company Audigy Group at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Ariz., featured more than 180 of the nation’s top independent care providers discussing the latest industry trends that will help them bring top-notch care to their patients.
“The bottom line is that healthcare in all aspects is about the patient,” says Dr. Maria Morrison. “Speaking to other leaders in the hearing care industry is something that I enjoy doing because it impacts my practice and my patients positively. I leave conferences like this with new ideas and new ways to make sure the patient experience is as caring as possible. It definitely offers me more clarity in how I’m practicing hearing with my patients.”
Advancements in hearing technology and patient satisfaction were chief discussion topics. New hearing aids with tinnitus treatment were featured, including user controls in the device, offering the wearer both tinnitus relief and the benefit of better hearing. Most of the new technology centered around creating a more natural listening experience for the wearer, relieving tinnitus symptoms, and providing better speech audibility and directionality, as well as a clearer understanding of speech in noise.
“I think everyone is excited to get their hands on this new technology and apply it in ways that benefit our patients,” says Dr. Maria Morrison, whose practice uses the AGX® Hearing brand that features these technological advancements. “I don’t know that there’s been a better time — a more exciting time — to treat hearing loss, given all the technology that we have at our fingertips right now. It’s empowering knowing that we can impact people’s lives in such a positive way.”
